American Petro Hunter
has acquired a working interest in an exciting oil play located in the northern part of the state. The Project targets regional shale formations rich in oil. Currently, the Company is drilling shallow, vertical wells with future plans to exploit the shale productive horizon with horizontal drilling. Individual wells at the analogous Bakken formation in North Dakota are producing over 2,000 barrels per day from staged fracture stimulation programs.
The North Oklahoma Project pursues production of high gravity light oil above 3800 feet with estimated oil production in the 150 to 350 BPD range as anticipated Initial Production Rates.
The Company’s fist well, the “No. 1,” was successfully drilled and the resulting 38 feet of pay encountered was completed and fracture stimulated. The engineers concluded that following the implementation of the stimulation program, the “No. 1” well should result in an I.P.R. (Initial Production Rate) in excess of 350 barrels per day. The well is now in commercial production after recovery of the fracture fluids with a purchaser under contract to commence shipping oil from the storage tank facilities shortly.
The project is located in a historic oil & gas district of northern Oklahoma. After a detailed review of available project engineering data combined with the very favorable early results at the No. 1 well, the Company opted to increase its acreage position to an interest in 4 lease blocks at the Project. This coveted land position now offers American Petro-Hunter a rapid, multi-well drilling and completion program with a full field development scenario of 15 potential wells in this highly prospective oil play.
