1st Horizontal Woodford Shale well planned for 2012 |
American Petro Hunter has acquired a varied working interest in seven lease blocks over 1,400 acres in Payne County, Oklahoma located in the northern part of the State. The Prospect targets the regional Woodford Shale formation and the Simpson and Wilcox formations which are all historic producers. Currently, the Company has drilled, completed and put into production 2 vertical wells. Completion of these wells involves acidization and fracture stimulation.
The development program has focused on testing the commercial viability of the Woodford via vertical wells prior to further exploiting the Woodford by lateral, 2,000 foot horizontal wells. Individual wells at the analogous Bakken formation in North Dakota are producing over 2,000 barrels per day from staged fracture stimulation programs. The North Oklahoma Project Woodford Prospect pursues production of high gravity light oil above 3800 feet with targeted rates of production in the 50 to 150 BOPD range.
